What stimulated my sleepy daughter to keep her sucking at the breast?
"Pumping" her feet and legs. For instance, if she were in the cradle hold
and nursing on the left side, I would put her tiny little feet together in
the palm of my right hand. I would gently "pump" her feet and legs in a
rythmic pattern with a gently bend at the knee. It would do the trick
everytime and she would continuing sucking in the rymthic pattern of the
"pumping".

It has seemed to work well for some other mothers that I have worked with.
