As previously discussed in earlier post today my 3rd baby had a high palate.
Now at almost 8 years old he will splutter regularly when drinking from an open
glass but manages perfectly with a straw. His speech can have less clarity
when he is trying to speak fast or when he shouts. He will sometimes "loose"
food from his mouth when chewing but I didn't notice any problem when he
began family foods. He also has ADD (without the H) and is recognised at
school as gifted. He has unusual dentition- therapist described his mouth as
more like a child from a Pacific Island,(he is UK/Italian descent) he had baby
teeth early 3 months-8 of them by 6 months and started losing them at just
over 5 years. His upper canines have not descended and are high in his jaw
near the base of his nose- all related to high palate-probably.
Secondly the LC I consulted had a fantastic supportive attitude and knew how
to communicate her findings and support to me and my husband and fully
comunicated that it wasn't MY FAULT!
