Hi! I'm one of those Lactnuts that spends most of her time reading and very
little time writing--but I have learned a lot. There is a big pediatric
conglomerate in Tampa, FL that I am trying to convince into hiring an LC-- ME
of course! Sadly, I must report that their Clinical Manager--in charge of
staffing the offices-- didn't know that there was such a thing as a Lactation
Consultant! (All I can say is: Could you die, and is it any wonder why I
feel that I am in an unenlightened area?)

Anyhow, even though this woman was naive, she was intrigued when I told
her that I could reduce pediatric time on the phone, and handle breastfeeding
management of their pediatric patients. I sent a wonderful packet of
materials to her, but I have to admit that I am riding on the seat of my pants
with this one. I attended the Physician's Office LC program at ILCA's
Preconference, and it was excellent, but I need some information about types
of billing codes that are used for insurance, and how most of you get paid,
and how you handle pump rentals and product purchases (if you actually do).
Are there any pitfalls that I should be made aware of? Please Physician LCs,
talk to me...
