Thanks to you all for the encouraging words since my last post.  I have
printed every one of them to keep me going.  I mentioned to the head of
obstetrics that the original reason for the consent for supplementation was to
protect the hospital from a lawsuit, that there have been cases of lawsuits
filed when formula has been given without authorization from the parents.  His
comment?  "Not so far in this hospital.  Just educate the nurses and when they
don't mind, spank them."  Oh,  please, spare me.  I am checking with the
California Registered Nurses Licensing Board to see if this represents
professional misconduct.  If it does, I can at least use that as info to give
the nurses in education classes.  These are the same nurses who won't put a
pillow behind a mother's back (even if she asks for help) while she is nursing
her baby in bed because if she falls asleep and smothers her baby they might
somehow be responsible!  I have a long road ahead of me!
