Although my co-workers predicted it would never happen, I've actually gotten rid of my paper copies of JHL prior to 2000.  But I certainly went through them again first to reread/save favorite articles.

One of my favorites is Jane Heinig's editorial from 1998 called "Closet Consulting and Other Enabling Behaviors."

Even 10 years ago, Jane was stressing that if we want to be valued as a profession, we have to expect to be paid for our value. Ten years later, her words still ring true.
