I have a quiz which includes this question:

Which factors have been shown to be likely to be important to a
mother's breastfeeding (tick all that apply)?

nutritious diet; plenty of fluids; rest; having large breasts;
3-hourly                        feeds; nightly glass of Guiness

Of course, none of them should be ticked, but I must have given this
quiz to hundreds of parents and health professionals (not midwives,
though) and none have ever twigged!

They do it in groups, and there are often great discussions about the
merits of three hourly feeds. They all know having large breasts is
not relevant but most of them assume a nutritious diet is a sine qua
non.

I have to be armed with references to give out, as many just don't
believe it is possible to breastfeed without rest or eating certain
foods.

It leads on to a discussion of what has been shown to be important,
and we include family support, good information from health
professionals and so on.
