ONe recent post reminded me that my mother, although she nursed all of her
four children for varying lengths of time, also gave bottles as a "relief"
(her own words, written in the baby book). In the 1960's the formula was
even more NASTY than it is today. I also was given something called
"recombined milk", which I didn't tolerate well, smart me.
I think that many mothers of the day gave bottles, too, as it was a
commonly held belief that bottles of ABM were necessary for a variety of
reasons. Of course, this is 1996 and nobody thinks that anymore, right?
  Lisa Jones-
who is continually amazed that people are continually amazed that my baby
grew from newborn to toddler on my milk alone.
