Another LC told me blood in urine could mean a kidney problem. Added to
this the Mom's milk didn't come in until day 5 and baby wasn't stooling on
day 6 when I talked to Mom (Mom - from India BTW - was managing bf
perfectly with frequent and long feedings.) We (Me + LC) told her better
see a doctor, check weight, hydration, ask about blood. Mom v. stubborn
(good, good) and persisted with frequent feedings after milk came in. Today
I made a follow up call. Mom was thrilled (and half afraid!) because baby
was now pooping all over the place! "Had two this morning..is that too
many?!") and sounded like a different woman. So bf OK. "What about the blood?"
"Oh I called the dr. and he said that was normal..." ????
Oh well, baby sounded healthy, Mom sounded happy, no more blood... I guess
it was pseudomensus (thanks for the term). I just told her to contact
someone if there was more blood....
