I would seriously question this mom about eating disorders.  many women
with eating disorders use laxatives.  Second, you're right about not
being able to quit cold turkey.  She should be under the care of a
physician.  I once had a geriatric client who had spent much of her adult
life using laxatives.  MD was never able to get her off them b/c her
bowel just didn't function anymore.  Did this mom start using laxatives
when preg. or before?
