Lactnuts,
Heather asks how can hospitals have a blood sugar number when there is no
consensus? And Maurenne shares what her hosp. does, which is even worse than
mine, I think. I've got to say that it is the pediatricians on our hosp
staff who determined these guidelines/policies - based on what research, I
don't know. None of the LCs (there are 5 of us) would routinely check these
babies.

Anyone out there who is doing or planning CME for physicians (continuing
medical education) - this should be a HIGH PRIORITY (as would be jaundice
also) for re-education of physicians. Also journal articles for physicians,
as this area for *acceptable medical* reasons for supplementation really
needs to be addressed by physicians. LLLI physicians conferences and Academy
of BF Medicine and others trying to impact physician care re bf really need
to include this often to reach the masses.
