Hi Norma and others -
I'm another one who's used 'breast compression'. I enjoyed Dr. Jack's
description, as I'd never known there was a name for this, and had never
seen it referred to in any of my LLL resources. I used it for both
my daughters in the first weeks of life as they were both sleepy, and
based on my own experience, I've suggested it to mothers of newborns
who nod off in the middle of feeding. I think also, especially in the
first week of my daughters' lives, I was *so* aware of the importance of
colostrum
that I wanted them
to get as much as they possibly could, and this seemed a good way to get
more into
them. And now, as someone else mentioned, Rukan tries to do it herself when
nursing!
