Clinical illness is rarely reported before 12 to 24 months of age. It is possible that neonates/infants may lack the cellular machinery to bind and process the toxins of Clostridium species. Pump and dump would be unessecery in prevention especially if baby is in good health and there's no risk factor for developing the disease. I worked in a pediatric hospital for few years and never had a sick C-diff patient under 12m.
