And were is the good doctors' proof that it actually does take more calories to breastfeed rather than bottlefeed?
Actually there is quite a bit of evidence that shows that children at breast have better outcomes on heart function, lung function, temperature management and lower stress hormon levels. How can that be related to a perceived higher energy need?
I think doctors will need to provide solid evedence for every interference with the physiologic way children function.

Warmly,

I had a little 'run in' with one of our neonatologist who told a mother that she had to limit her breastfeeding to twice a day because the babies (twins) were exerting more calories from breastfeeding then formula feeding. I found one research article that was done in 2009 that stated the their wasn't a difference from breast versus bottle http://www.thedoctorschannel.com/video/2650.html?specialty=19
but the study was only done with 19 preterm babies. So, I was told the study was to small to prove anything.
So, I am reaching out to see if anyone else has any other research studies like this that they could send me too.
Thanks
