After suffering years of negative comments about breastfeeding and breastfeeding in public, made by several hosts of the popular woman's TV talk show "The View", the on-line breastfeeding community has decided to organize a "nurse-in" at the building where the show is taped in New York City.

The details are:

Monday, June 6th, 2005, at 11 a.m.
the corner of Columbus Avenue and 67th Street
ABC Studios
New York City

Comments that I recall included Star Jones telling moms to just use Enfalac (rather than breastfeed in public), Barbara Walters saying that millions have been raised on formula and they are just fine, Elizabeth ? saying that she was accosted by LLL leaders who demanded that she breastfeed her new baby (this lead to a statement by LLL clarifying that this kind of action would not be sanctioned by the organization, and "The View" then did a segment on breastfeeding basics), and the latest comment was Barbara Walters saying that she is offended by breastfeeding in public.

To read more about the lastest incident it is being discussed on mothering.com here

Spread the word about the nurse-in, if you wish.
