First, let me apologize for my initial email which contained a word not
suitable for polite conversation.

On balance, there are very few people who have furthered the cause of
breastfeeding and attachment parenting more than Bill and Martha have. I
assume he has decided that endorsing store brand formulas will allow him to
gather more money to promote the causes important to him and to the rest of
us. Whether we agree with him or not, he is certainly more than entitled to
make that decision with consulting anyone. (Clearly, he consulted none of us
on this list or we might have counseled him to avoid the association of his
name with the sales of artificial baby milk.)

Perhaps a few well-worded, persuasive, kind letters will cause him to realize
that many people who respect and love him want him to seek other advertisers.

The first time ABC TV fired me, I had just extemporized a live 60 second
criticism of the impact of ABM ads on TV and the negative impact these ads
had on infants' health. Unfortunately, my diatribe preceded an ad for
formula. I should have known. At some point I had to make the decision
whether or not to disdain appearances on any TV network, radio network or
show that allowed ABM ads. This includes every network and every daytime
talk show. I have chosen to continue to accept invitations to pursue my
(our>) agendas even if the network has sponsors I dislike.

Admittedly, this is somewhat different than having a formula banner on a web
site bearing one's own name . . . but maybe he has his reasons.

Oh, shit.
