hey,
this might be overly reactionary, but, in light of all the tobacco
company stuff, i was wondering the following. how could one go about
getting the government to require a warning label on formula? you know
sorta like- the surgeon general says consuming this product may be harmful
to your health. after all, it's been proven over and over that abm
increases the risk of gastrointestial problems, ear infections, increased
risks of allergies and sids as well as this new link to diabetes; it
doesn't provide protection from various cancers in mom and baby yada yada
yada. yeah, i know i don't have sell y'all on the benefits of
breastfeeding. it just seems to me that the parallels between the tobacco
companies in the past and the abm companies is too similar. yes, i know
there are some babies out there that would ahve died w/o formula (while
tobacco companies could never claim that), but i think the public needs to
be warned. a huge part of the public believes that it is as good or bettre
than breastmilk or else how could they sell it???

anyway, i'd appreciate any suggestions on the possiblity of starting a
grassroots campaign! thanks, deborah danzeiser

(seems particularly revelant in light of jay simpson's nurse/baby problem)
