Ann,

I'm a new LLLLeader, and have already had my share of situations like this.
The best advice I got when I was becoming a LLLLeader was, "A mom has to
*want* to breastfeed and meet you halfway in her efforts. You can't do all
the *wanting* for her."

Doesn't help much with the frustration, but when I remind myself of this, it
eases any guilt I may feel when a mom I've tried to help chooses not to
breastfeed.

She is looking at me like I must be out of
my mind cause why don't I realize that having twins is stressful enough so
why should she also worry about an ailing milk supply when there is --
FORMULA AND BOTTLES! Besides she says, "I will be returning to work in
four or five months." Wanted to review the reasons why she had chosen to bf
in the first place... but still she and dad are looking at me like I am
mad... Tonight, I ran over with Mothering Multiples and a sheet I wrote up
with Reminders, yet she really wasn't wanting to see me cause they were
entertaining guests and the babies were no where to be seen. It is a fine
line, I find and though I do not want to be in this role -- I find myself
over and over, being the "convincer". How do you all avoid that? Thanks,
Ann IBCLC, LLLL

Ann Conlon-Smith, mama to six sons!
