Karen: I have both seen moms and I have personally taken these drugs for
asthma without apparent ill effects. The structural difference between
Serevent (Salmeterol Xinafoate) and proventil/albueterol is not significant
enough to think that nursing is okay with proventil/albueterol, but not
with Serevent. The main difference in the action of the drugs is that
Serevent is a longer lasting bronchiodialator, but also takes more time to
take effect.
