Dear Lacnetters,
     I am on  a group called bfmomsupport and since I am studying to be an LC
and have nursed my son for 2 1/2 years I usually give out lots of advice to
the newbies in the group.  Recently there have been several newbies whose
babies are not gaining much weight or are off the charts for weight on the lower
end.  Some of their pediatricians have told them to start supplementing with
formula and one even told the mom to stop nursing altogether.  I would like to
know if anyone has any links to info about how exclusively breastfed babies can
gain more weight or at least info that shows that breastmilk can help babies
gain weight as well as formula can.  I have advised the woman whose
pediatrician said to give up bfing to seek help from another pediatrician and an LC in
her area.  Thanks in advance for the help,
