Hi friends,

Since I get so much knowledge and support from you all, who better to
turn to to vent about my job? I started the LC postition at my hospital
10 years ago and have worked 20hrs/week at at hospital that formerly
delivered approx. 1500 deliveries/ year. Well, our largest practice
sold to a competing hospital and the census will drop , but no one can
really predict how far. To get to the point, I was just told out of
the blue that administration can no longer support a 20hr/wk position
and my hours have been cut to 10/wk. How do I deal with complaints from
patients who expect to see an LC, even those who do not really need my
services, but want to talk to the "expert". We have a upper middle
class, mostly caucasion population. I obviously will not be available
as much. How about when a MD writes for a consult with the LC. Am I
legally obligated to do that, and what if I have already done my 10 hrs.?

As you can see, I am confused and downhearted. I have a meeting with
the adminstator who decided this to discuss the above, but would love to
hear how you might handle this. Thanks.

You are the wise ones.
