Here's an update on the mother who contacted me for info on frenulum
clipping:

She finally was referred to a pediatric ENT doc. She went in armed with info
to convince the doc to PLEASE clip this frenulum. (She had bleeding nipples
with several recommends to have frenulum clipped. She also had several docs
tell her they wouldn't do the procedure, including her ped.)

Turns out the ENT doc assumed he was going to be doing the procedure all
along. He empathized with her frustrations, applied local anesthetic, and
clipped the frenulum. Baby cried. Mother tried to comfort with bf
immediately after procedure, but baby was too numb to control his mouth. So
30-45 minutes later after arriving home, mother bf successfully for a VERY
long period of time. Mother said she could feel a "HUGE difference,"
especially on the least wounded nipple. Baby fell contentedly asleep in her
arms and was still there when she called me to tell me her story.

For this mom, I think the frenulum clipping will be the beginning of a
beautiful bf relationship! Thanks to all of you for your input on this
issue. The mom appreciated all of the perspectives.
