For the last 10-15 years in the UK standard cord care has been....do
nothing.  I gather there were studies showing that this actually reduced
infection rates...even in our bug-ridden hospitals. In any case, mothers
are at home sooner these days, where they and their babies can escape from
hospital bugs.

How is this bf related? Well, the simpler and less interventionist *any*
postnatal care is, the better...so the mother increases in confidence
because she is not relying on 'experts' telling her what to do all the time
: )
