Just finally reading all the posts so this may be a little late for this
topic.I wanted to bf my first child was all gung ho, then when he was
born LGA and would not take right to the breast I thought there was
somehting wrong with me. It was in a military hospital and the only
people on duty were males. No offense to Dr. Jack but I was just sure
that they didn't know ANYTHING about breastfeeding. I cried every time I
tried to nurse and after weeks of trying finally gave up.Shortly after
this I started working in a LDRP unit (11 years ago). And vowed that no
one should not have to give up nursing if I could help it. My husband
will say that I did not get over the guilt of not breastfeeding until
our daughter was born 3 years later. I was fortunalte to have a Le Leche
leader who gave me support and info. before I delivered and did not make
me feel guilty for my previous experience. I have gone on to bf 2
children while working full time thanks to the support I received. I
think going through this experience does help people relate to others
going through it and support groups would definately be benenficial.
Sorry for this long winded reply.
