Hi,
Have there been some new studies out concerning how long thawed breastmilk
can remain in the refrigerater in an NICU? I had always seen 24 hours,
for both hospital and home use. One of our Neonatologists thinks we
should change it to 48 hours so we won't have to remember the 24/48 hr
rules, and all milk in the refrig could be used for 48 hours. I've not
had the opportunity to ask her for her research, but was told she had
some, though nobody has seen it.

Thanks,
Brenda Dalton RNC, IBCLC
