Thanks to Janet for bringing this fatty acid supplement to our attention. I
wrote the following letter to the customer service department:

Dear Sir:

I just read your claims regarding the supplement Vitrel-3 and am somewhat
concerned that you urge parents to chemically induce a young infant to sleep
through the night at an early age. Are you aware that it is important that infants
between the ages of 2-4 months retain the capacity to to be easily arsouable
especially during the early morning hours? Have you tested this product to the
point where you can also state that it does not increase the risk of SIDS?
Late night arousals are a survival mechanism not an annoyance. As a registered
nurse and certified lactation consultant I would never recommend this product
to a mother for fear of constructing an environment conducive to SIDS,
promoting underfeeding of a breastfed infant, and using scare tactics to sell an
unnecessary and potentially harmful product.
