I have a question for those who like to ponder on a cosmic level (which, I
think, is most of us!). I was at a meeting of our local ILCA affiliate last
night and several of us were talking about situations we were dealing/had
dealt with that craniosacral therapy would/did make a significant difference
in a breastfeeding problem. We started talking about why we seemed to see
these situations more often recently when it wasn't even heard of before, so
I thought I'd pose this question to the group. We had some thoughts about
the way birthing is done these days that might affect a baby's suck, such as
the wide use of medications in labor, suction and forceps deliveries, larger
babies coupled with moms in less optimal positions for delivery (making for
tighter squeezes. Honestly, I wouldn't want to eat either, if my head
looked like some of these babies do!). So, is this a recent trend or have
these problems always existed, we just didn't have the global communication
we now have to compare notes? If these are not new problems, what was done
about them before? Any thoughts out there?

BTW, I am always pleased to share with my peers all the resources I obtain
from Lactnuts. This venue is an invaluable treasure for lactation workers
and I have no doubt, our profession has been furthered immeasurably by the
exchange of ideas and resources by the community here!
Marsha, who would much rather have slept in this morning during the storm!
