Hi All,

Joanna K wrote:

Magda - You have hit on something that has been bothering me (well, one of
the many things bothering me!) Why is it that a mother can be suffering
major mastalgia - is tx'd for candidiasis, highly likely to have, but gives
up finally, weans and ALL the symptoms promptly disappear. One mom told me
her sx dropped in direct relationship to the milk supply. I would have
thought that sx would continue as long as some inflammatory process at work.

What's happening?

Jaye again: my thoughts - if the ducts are symptomatic of yeast and they
hurt when the milk is going out and then while filling I would think it
makes perfect sense that as the 'action' of the milk slows so does the
pain/symptoms. If you stop the 'friction' you stop the pain. The ductal
system must be irritated like crazy by the yeast and the milk 'rubbing' back
and forth on the ductal walls. Take away the 'rubbing' and there is no more
cause for irritation. With nothing to flare up the symptoms everyone thinks
all is well until you start up with the friction again and the whole thing
starts all over. The yeast was always there - just no friction or rubbing to
irritate and inflame.

Rather simplistic idea - but who knows?

I tried on my first pair of thongs (flip-flops) today - you know the shoes
with the strap that goes between your toes - OH MY WORD! I thought I was
going to go nuts! Walking around the store trying to get used to
them.haven't worn these type of sandals in about 30 yrs (I turned 40 this
year!). The space between my toes got all red and sore (after 5 minutes of
walking!) and with each step I took, it hurt - fewer steps - less pain.
Take them off and the pain went away. Now, after 4 hours there is still a
bit of redness there, but the pain is gone. I expect that, if I continue to
NOT wear those (and search for comfy sandals with no thing between the toes)
that I will be fine UNLESS I again try to wear those types of sandals
thereby starting up that friction again. No friction - no pain - Know
Friction - Know pain. :-)

Warmly,

Jaye

Still wondering where I can get a good pair of flat sandals with No arches,
no thing between the toes, that aren't too girlie and don't cost $100.sigh.
