Hi Karen
I am sorry you are feeling hesitant to post here.  Robust debate ... even if 
it occasionally degenerates as a result of overwhelming passion - is surely 
better than no debate at all.
As I understand the Code, it does not take issue with your seeking 
scientific and factual information from manufacturers about products that 
fall inside its scope.  Neither does it prohibit you from providing them 
with information that will enable them to produce a better (safer for 
airways) product  - or from approaching them to ask if they will produce 
such a product.
It only prohibits companies and individuals from advertising products to the 
general public and mothers.
The Code certainly doesn't prohibit you from conducting or disseminating 
your research regarding bottles and teats.  The Code is designed to ensure 
that all the information that is available to mothers about infant feeding 
products is scientific and factual ... and comes from someone who has no 
interest in selling them something.  Your work in this area is one of the 
very things that the Code is trying to encourage and protect.
