It is perfectly within the realm of normalcy for a 5 week old to nurse for
an hour, as we all know, but it obviously difficult for this mom to accept.
What about simply reassuring her that her baby is normal, that it is
wonderful that baby is gaining so well, and that baby will not take this
long to nurse when he/she gets older and more efficient and encouraging her
to meet some other breastfeeding moms at La Leche League meetings so she can
see that she is not alone and perhaps learn to accept her baby's nursing
style.
