Is it considered safe for a baby to be formula fed in a sidelying position? I saw a grandmother doing this and told her that the baby's head needed to be elevated. She informed me that the baby was being fed that way because a nurse had told her the position promotes muscle memory for breastfeeding. Baby was sidelying but flat. No head elevation.
I'm just not sure this method was meant for formula feeding. IF the baby had some head elevation, was rolled towards grammy and the bottle had EBM I wouldn't have opened my mouth! Thanks in advance for your comments!
