Suggest this mom rent a scale and take home, weighing baby before and after feeds to ascertain what volume baby is taking at breast.   That way she can tell if baby is getting adequate volume and not processing or getting inadequate volume.   Without accurate assessment, no recommendations are useful, because you don't know what you're dealing with.

Thank you so much for the reply.  Mother seems to be very stubborn, and every attempt to help her from our side is not being taken well.  Her Paed suggested the MCT Oil in the hopes that she would gain, and has probably been the cause for the very slight gains together with the formula, which she is only giving very little of.



I think unless we are absolutely fearless in telling her that unless she does something drastic immediately, that baby could actually die. I doubt she actually realises the gravity of the situation.
