My understanding is that the surgery is much easier and less uncomfortable
immediately pp, than waiting 6-8 weeks or more. Everything is more
accessible.   Have personally had this surgery on day after baby's birth.
You still are uncomfortable - I warn moms that it is not a walk in the
park, but the baby will never be smaller and easier to care for then at a
day of age.  Can you imagine how you'd feel with a fat, sassy baby at 2 or
3 mo.  How would you cope?  I found people most helpful when baby is
newborn.  Later everything is back to "normal" and you have to cope on your
