I too am often rethinking my views on gloves, gowns etc. I like to go back to
basics whenever possible and have a hard time communicating the natural to
my people when I have gloves on. I don't feel comfortable give a baby a
bath with gloves on for instance, a face it, we can't always anticipate
every contact we have. I like the "Florence Nitengale" (never could spell)
approach. I feel universal precautions are no substitute for good had
washing, good sleep, good food, good exercise and fresh air in combatting
the bugs we face on a day to day basis. I good horse sense as what is
safe or not should be in there as well. Of couse I still use UP's most
of the time when they are called for; if I died and left my husband to
raise our five kids he's ring my neck.
