I'm sure I'll get flamed for this but here goes. I don't use a fussy or
expensive doll to demo positions. Years ago, at a LLL meeting, my daugher
brought me one of her cabbage patch dolls to use and I still use them. I have
a premie and a newborn, also a "regular sized" one. I use an African American
one when I worked in the city and still do sometimes. They are nice and
floppy and their heads turn. We do have a Lactessa at the hospital but it is
SO heavy and long for my short arms. I guess I'm more comfortable with my
light weight dolls.
Having three daughters, we always had lots of dolls and stuffed animals
to use for meetings (care bears worked nicely too) along with trucks, trains,
and "boy's toys") but I never liked using a hard plastic doll to demo
positioning.
