Thanks to all of you who responded to my question about use of cabbage leaves
for my daughter's wisdom teeth extraction. Just to give you a quick report.
She had the surgery yesterday early in the morning. She only had Versed along
with the local - no narcotics. Since she is diabetic, the surgeon wanted to
try to avoid them to avoid the risk of nausea and not being able to eat. It
worked beautifully. We used cabbage leaves for about 12 hours, kept them in
place with an Ace bandage - looked funny, but worked. She was able to control
the pain with just ibuprofen and was able to eat fairly normally. Today she
has some soreness, but not bad at all; NO noticeable swelling and so far no
bruising. She feels OK enough that she has gone on a long bike ride this
afternoon. So, did the cabbage leaves help? I guess I'll never know, since
we didn't do a controlled comparison, but they certainly didn't hurt. Miriam
