>I have a mom who says her 3 -4 wk old infant throws up every time she bf.
But that could be normal. We call it possetting in the UK. We're lucky, as
this is a nice, cosy word that reassures ! The throw up is called
'possett' - as in 'there's possett on your blouse' : )
We've said here before that in the absence of projectile stuff, any
distress, failure to thrive or other symptoms in the baby it is a 'laundry
problem' - a Patricia Youngism if I recall correctly : )
The lack of up-chucking on abm is insignificant. The stuff is thicker,
forms curdier stuff in the stomach, and ...well, so what?
I would not see the need for any dietary change by the mother or any need
for expressing.
Mothers do tend to worry about these things, and I find it helpful to
resist the tendency to pathologise things which are on the spectrum of
normal - a nuisance, maybe, but livable with in most instances.
