Hi All,
I had a gal call me a few weeks ago. Baby just a few days old, left breast
terribly sore on outer quad up into armpit. Had been doing massage, and all
the stuff a local LLLL told her to do, but still no relief. I asked her
"Are you wearing a bra?" "Yes, the nurse at the hosp told me to wear it day
and night," she says. :/
"Take it off and I gaurentee you will feel better within 24 hours," I tell her.
She called me back the next morning. "Thanks! I feel so much better! I
wonder why the nurse told me to wear a bra night and day when it caused me
so much pain?"
Good question...

I tell my clients that if they feel that NEED to wezr a bra, to wait until
at least 2 wks postpartum or longer if at all possible to give their breasts
a chance to settle down a bit. I suggest that if they feel the need to wear
something, get a sleep bra to wear because they are great for keeping bra
pads in and are not constricting. I explain the possible problems they can
get into by wearing an ill-fitting bra (especially underwire) and most moms
figure that since they aren;t going to go out a bunch anyway, a sleep bra is
a great idea. Heck, I even tell them that usually what I wear is a sleep
bra since I got used to not wearing a "real" bra and now they are too
uncomfortable for me! (even one that fits properly!)(Karen, I know you are
laughing at me!)

Jay
who drives Karen Evon nuts when she tries to fit me for a bra...I am hard to
fit for some reason...
