Research clearly shows the significantly increased risk to the infant of developing atopy when given abx within the first 6 mos of life (ncluding to the mother during labor). I would be stunned if this did not hold for babies whose mothers are given abx pp as well. It is such a simple thing to suggest that the mother use castor oil compresses and homeopathy. This is one case where one of three remedies is almost always effective. Use phytolacca when there is a plug, use belladonna where there is infection and use hepar sulph if belladonna does not resolve the infection within hours. I have not had a single client take abx for mastitis in years (if I have met them before they had it) b/c homeopathy always works.
