I am looking to start a breastpump rental station at the hospital I work
at. Up till now I have been running one out of my home....conflict of
interest was not an issue when I started doing that 6 years ago, but as the
popularity of pumps has grown and my role at the hospital has expanded, it
just does not look good! In addition, I feel that women would be better
served with expanded avaliability of hours by having a rental station in
the hospital where we have 2 lactation consultants.

So far I have gotten nothing but road blocks. Administration says no can
do as we are nonprofit. Gift Shop is not interested as they feel there is
not enough space and no money to be made...even though I can store the
pumps on OB where we see nursing mothers, and I have shown them the numbers
are far as profit is concerned. How do other non profit hospitals handle
this?

Thanks,
Lori Peters RN/IBCLC
