I have a mom of a 1 month old who is nursing on one breast - the other side
had cancer, is s/p surgery & radiation.
Baby is thriving, gaining well. He had a bit of a lazy latch at first and
ended up giving mom a sore nipple that actually had a 1cm tear about 1/2 cm
deep. His frenulum is not short. Her nipple also looked yeasty-pink and she
complained of shooting breast pains not during feedings.

I treated with Jack's nipple ointment, Soothies, and 2 weeks of Diflucan
100mg q day. I also showed mom asymmetric latch technique.

Now 3 weeks later, tear is almost completely healed, is not painful, all
surface pain is gone. However, deep sharp stabbing breast pain remains. Does
not occur every day, but seems to be getting more painful. Occurs about 2
hours post feed, usually in the late evening.

Any Ideas???
