Hi All,

Question about Afrin nasal spray (Oxymetazoline). I spoke to a mom over the
phone who states that she has been using Afrin nasal spray daily for two
months. This mom's baby is three months old now and at two months was
"thin". As of two weeks ago mom has been supplementing about 10 oz of
formula per day as her milk supply has plummeted. Per phone nothing else
has changed in her life. I will be seeing them but wanted some info on
Afrin. What I do know about Afrin is this: Afrin is not in Hale. Afrin is
in our archives and is only supposed to be used for a max of 3 days. It is
a powerful vasal constrictor. No mention of impact on milk supply if this
medication is abused. I am looking for info regarding afrin and milk supply
only?
Thank you everyone for your help.
Warmth,
Star Siegfried RN,BA,IBCLC
