Hello,

Have a mom who;s baby was diagnosed with neonatal hepatitis. Mom was
told to immediately discontinue breastfeeding and provide Pregestimil
formula. She did this for a while, and baby threw up every feeding. Her
pediatrician then put the baby on Enfamil, which baby did well with. Mom
had continued pumping her milk, and has now begun to put baby to breast
again.

What is the rationale, if any, for taking baby off the breast when
diagnosed with neonatal hepatitis?

Thanks,
Brenda Phipps
