Had a mom in my LLL group about 6 mos. ago w/exact dx with a 6m/o. Had
recently started solids & inf. had 2 oz of ABM while mom went to a class, +
mom was heavy into dairy.
After discussing w/ my fave PA (husband), & another LLLL/IBCLC w/ a Ped
husband, we all agreed dairy most suspect, along with food intolerance ->
solids. Mom took ALL dairy out of diet & removed every thing but breastmilk
from inf. diet & all symptoms cleared in 3 wks.
Have had number of clients with neartly identical stories, give or take a few
symptoms. I tell moms it takes 3 wks for mother's body to clear all cow's
milk protein after ALL dairy removed. So not to expect instant results.
Some do see some results earlier, but I consider that serendipity! I also
remind moms if it's this difficult with breastmilk - it's not likely to be
better on ABM. Also refer her to resources: Baby Book:Sears; Tracking Down
Hidden Food Allergies:Crook; Is This Your Child?:Rapp, etc.
