I have a question for those who are Muslim and/or more familiar with Islam.
I understand that modesty is an important issue for Muslim women (that is also true for some Buddhist sects as well- I am Buddhist). Are there any caveats about taking pictures of Muslim women especially if any of their body parts are exposed for breastfeeding if they are wearing chador or other clothing?

I know us Westerners are pretty quick to take pictures of everyone doing just about everything. We have kind of a "National Geographic" approach to picture taking of people from other cultures.

I would think it would be more sensitive to use photos that have the permission of the person whose picture has been taken before using it for a conference talk or presentation. In the Western world, these days we ask for releases before photos are taken for clinical or teaching uses. I think this is important for any photos we may be utilizing.

Just as we cite sources for copyright and acknowledgement reasons, I think we should be equally respectful of those photo subjects that we use.

  Just a few thoughts,
