After searching the archives I now look to the guru's for suggestions.
I recieved a call from a mother who is expecting her 2nd child in two
months. After the birth of her first infant she became experienced breast
filling bilat but was never able to express more than a few cc'c from the
right. Mother says she worked with a couple of lactation consultants during
this time and even with a pump was never able to release milk from the
right breast. Left breast functioned normally and she nursed her baby on
the left only for 4 months.
After reviewing all medical history and development, the only thing I could
note is that she had both nipples pierced at one time and had let the
piercing heal over. I felt no significant scar tissue but....it's the only
thing that looks like it may be causing this varience.
My suggestion to her so far is after delivery we will work together and see
what happens..I also thought , if this problem reoccurs that I may see if
an ultrasound could check for obstruction/scar tissue..... any other
suggestions? All help is appreciated
