The rash sounds to me like a "viral" rash.  My son had them often and  
they are
characteristically "raised" but not itchy and generally go away in  
10-14 days.
Sorry I can't comment on the peanut butter issue but there has been  
quite a bit
published about it.  There was a Breastfeeding Outlook that addressed  
it I recall.
