Rhoda,

<Help please, our local pediatrician, in league with a family physician, is
<treating a 4 mo old totally br fed infant for obesity. The infant looks
<like your typical round infant, with lots of lovely rolls of skin. I don't
<have the weight chart but will try to get a copy and post it. He is less
<than 20 lbs. Certainly in comparison with my boys (all now tall slim teens)
<he is normal. The mom has been told to reduce breast feeds to 4 from 5
<every 24hrs and to start solids. Child shows no sign of interest. She would
<like some references to take back to her doctors

Along with whatever clinical research you may be able to find, possibly the
mother could research her family history. If the baby takes after one of his
parents or whomever, and she can document with pictures of that parent as an
infant and later (if they became more "normal" as they grew) she would be
able to point to a genetic cause rather than a problem with food intake.
Especially if that parent wasn't treated for obesity. They just can't
resist trying to correct Mother Nature.

Sorry if I'm not very coherent. It's late and I can't sleep.
Let us know how it turns out.
