Hello all,

A friend of a friend just contacted me. She had her first baby 10 weeks ago, never made a full supply and is still trying to breastfeed. It took only a few moments of chatting to find out that she has PCOS which was diagnosed at age 16, had to take metformin to get pregnant and nobody has ever told her it may cause breastfeeding problems!

She did see an LC who was able to help with latch. Her doc prescribed metoclopromide early on which made her feel horrible so she quit taking it. Same doc is now encouraging her to pump every hour, she only gets drops even with breast compression.

I am in a bit of shock that in 10 weeks of difficulty and known PCOS she is only now hearing that this is not unusual for PCOS moms.

Anyway... the reason for my post. I am several states away and not a PCOS expert. She is in Jefferson, OR. Does anyone know anyone who may be able to work with her?

Thank you,
Janie Akerlund RN IBCLC, etc, etc.....
