Hello Wise Ones

I am posting at the request of a client. I need help.

Client is nursing a 9 mos old. Baby is getting some solids but mostly
breastmilk. Mom works full time and pumps for baby who is home with dad.
Mom has a very enlarged thyroid and is scheduled for a thyroid test with
I-123. She has gotten so much conflicting info re this test she doesn't know
what to do. We have reviewed Hale. Not much there on testing doses, just on
treatment doses.
The mothers doctor says half life is 12 hours, but mom cannot have any
contact with the baby for 2 days and should pump and dump for 24 hours. what??
The pediatric radiologist says contact with baby is fine. Mom should pump for
five days as it will take this long for all radioactivity to be gone. She
should freeze the expressed milk and after it is 5 days old she may feed it
to the baby as all radioactivity will be gone from the milk as well. what??

Any experience or advice would be most welcome. Mom is scheduled for test on
monday.

Thank you all very much.
