I went to the pahrmacy to pick up my blood pressure prescription today and I
noticed that Fenugreek was on the information sheet as a possible interaction
with the medication, citing "may result in excessive lowering of blood pressure
or increased side effects". I had heard a speaker mention this at a workshop
several years ago and was under the impression that when taken together,
the Fenugreek might interfere with the absorption of the medication, but after
a Google search was never able to find anything definitive research. i did not
realize that the concern was an enhancement of the medication.

Does anyone know what the mecanism might be or if spacing out the two
might change the effects? I work at a hospital with a level three nursery and
many of the mothers of these babies who are born prematurely are on blood
pressure meds due to a Hx of preeclampsia etc. Fenugreek seems to work
particularly well for many of these moms who delivery 24-26 weekers.

Thanks,

Holly McSpadden, IBCLC
